A Fairytale Wedding

What ingredients do you need for a fairytale wedding?

Well Stylist Zoey and Planner Chelle at The Urban Wedding Company know exactly what you need and they gathered together some of the North West's finest wedding suppliers to create a tale as old as time.

A spectacular venue was required to bring to life a modern, urban twist on this nod to Beauty and The Beast. What better place than the oldest public library in the English speaking world? In our fairy tale, Belle was a bookworm and our Beast won her heart by bringing her to the magnificent Chetham's library.

Bride in Chetham's library

Chetham's library was founded in 1655 and has been adding to its collections ever since. It has such a magical atmosphere you are truly transported in time when you step into the grounds. You would never believe you are in the heart of the bustling Manchester City Centre. Entering these medieval buildings makes you believe you are in a different era. There are cloisters to wander around and hidden courtyards to have quiet moments in. The sandstone floors and oak panelled rooms give the building a feel like no other. The library is an amazing sight with row upon row of the most beautifully bound books, this was the perfect backdrop for our modern day fairy tale.

Next on the list was an awesome photographer to capture the images and to do the venue justice. Step in Marni V Photography who totally smashed it as you can see with these amazing photos. Video was also captured by Amb Vision who not only used video but also a drone to shoot images from unique angles.

The dress and cape for this stunning shoot were provided by the very talented bunch at Legend Bridal Design and looked as beautiful hanging up as they did on our Belle.

No fairytale wedding is complete with out stunning flowers. Kate from Perfect Bouquet Full of Flowers designed a stunning bouquet as well as an incredible overhead installation and decorated the wonderful feasting table and ballroom.

The overhead installation was made even more spectacular by the addition of lights provided by Peter from Peter Lockwood Events.

You couldn't host a fairytale wedding without a glorious feast and a wedding cake. The feast was provided and expertly presented by the Little Green Platter Company and not only looked amazing it was really delicious too. The cake was designed by me Lisa, cake designer at Urban Cakehouse. As the shoot was dark I wanted to keep the cake very dark, black in fact! I added bass relief roses to the middle tier for texture and these also cascaded down the top and bottom tier. I wanted to add an urban twist to the glass dome holding the rose on the top of the cake so used isomalt and blew this as a glass maker would to make a dome. I then smashed it and added the broken "glass" to the top of the cake around the rose.

Our very own Belle was made to look even more stunning by Jacqui from JQ Bridal MUA and we are sure she totally bowled over our Beast when he first saw her.

The fabulous table plan, place names and invitations were provided by the talented Mark at Frain and Grain, he used smoke rose vellum which fitted perfectly into Zoey's table styling. As well as facilitating the shoot, stylist Zoey of Bespoke Events and Styling had amazing vision to bring this fairy tale to life with her second to none styling.
